21 Weeks

How far along? 21 Weeks, 6 days

What's new with baby: His digestive system is developing. Eyebrows and eyelids are now present.  The baby now has wake and sleep cycles.

Sleep: Been sleeping pretty good this week.
Sleeping on: Side and back.
Best moment this week: Jeff was able to feel him kick! It was so nice to finally share the excitement with him.

Movement: Yes! Much stronger and Jeff even felt him.
Food cravings: None this week.
Anything making you queasy or sick:  Not this week.
Have you started to show yet: Yes. Super noticeable that people I don't even know are asking me when I'm due.

Down, set, decorate a nursery!

We are in full swing planning our little man's sports themed nursery. Here is the mood board of design and decor thoughts for the room:

1. Paint: We will be doing a paint design similar to this on the main wall behind the crib. We started painting over the weekend. We're doing a blue that is a little darker than a baby blue. It is called Little Pond by Behr (see picture below as well). The room will have beige and navy blue accents. Curtains, not pictured, will be navy from Pottery Barn Kids.

2. Chair - We got a beige super comfy gliding chair, not specifically this one, but just gives you an idea.

3. Locker Room! This is the major inspiration for the room. I'm looking for a locker end table, like the one picture, so keep your eyes peeled if you see anything. I saw something similar at Home Goods a few months ago, but didn't buy since obviously I didn't know if we were having a boy yet. Now that we know we are having a boy, I am kicking myself for not buying it when I saw it, and now find myself going to Home Goods at least 1-2 times a week. We are definitely doing the cubby wall shelf like the one in the picture  and are looking at different places to buy one. We're looking for one made of real wood. We will hang his little jersey(s) and fun sports apparel from the hooks.

4. Name decal: We ordered this name decal for above the crib. But, of course, with his name.

5. Crib and dresser. This is the set we recently got and are super excited to see it all put together.

6. Golden Dog Club: I saw this on Etsy and LOVE IT!! Have to have it. Obviously, we would want this in a Washington team, and the seller said, just name the team and they will do it. Go Nats!

7. Skins Jersey: Also saw this on Etsy and think it is super cute. Again, the seller can do it in any team, so we would want this one to say "Skins jersey."

8. Football Lamp: Love this lamp to add to our sports themed room. Plan to put it on the end table or dresser, and it will great to have in his room as he gets older. UPDATE: Found this steal at Home Goods and bought it. Lamp, check!

9. Sports Prints: Looking for sports prints similar to these which I would frame and hang above the dresser.

10. Locker Bins:Love these locker bins. I plan on getting two or so of these to use for storage on the shelf.

11. Sports Mobile: We registered for this crib mobile at BabiesRUs

Here's where we are so far:

1. We already had a ceiling fan installed in the room but it did not have a light fixture, so we added one. I also got these cute little football and basketball ornaments to hang for the light/fan controls.

2. We did one coat of paint this weekend and will do more painting over the labor day weekend.

3. We have our crib, dresser and glider thanks to both of our wonderful parents. (Thank you!) We will post the real-deal pictures when everything is loaded into the room.

Halfway!

How far along? 20 Weeks, 6 days
Baby is the size of: A banana (in length). Measures around 8-9 inches long and weighs about a 9-10 ounces.

What's new with baby: His skin is thickening and starting to form two layers. Hair and nails are continuing to grow and bones are strengthening.
Maternity clothes? Still regular dresses and maternity jeans. Did a little online shopping over the weekend for some maternity clothes (ordered some work pants and 1-2 tops).
Sleep: Been sleeping really good this week. And have been falling asleep super early. Almost like I'm back in my first trimester again.
Sleeping on: Side and back.
Best moment this week: Had a doctors appointment yesterday and everyone is healthy. Got our little man's first Redskins apparel and they are adorable! Thanks Matt and Teresa Cavanaugh!
Miss Anything? I'm content
Movement: Yes! Much more noticeable this week. It is so cool and exciting!
Food cravings: Fried Chicken! Okay, this should have appeared as a craving a few months ago. I can thank my personal trainer for putting this one in my brain. Anyways, I've been thinking about splurging on fried chicken for weeks, maybe months, and we got it last night. YUMMMMM! Before this year, I probably haven't had fried chicken since college.
Anything making you queasy or sick:  Not this week.
Have you started to show yet: Yes.

Gender: It's a boy!
Name selected?: Yes!
Working out? Yes.
Labor Signs: No.
Belly Button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off? On
Health: I started getting back spasms and my lower back just all around aches. My calves are super tight and my right hip flexor has been hurting me. All signs of growing pains. Overall though, we are both healthy and that is the most important thing. :)

Feeling (happy, moody, emotional, scared): Happy doesn't even begin to describe it. :)
Looking forward to: Decorating our little man's nursery. So much fun!

Baby is the size of: A softball. Measures around 7-8 inches long and weighs about a 1/2 of a pound (approximately 8-8.5 ounces).

What's new with baby: He's able to make facial gestures such as frowning and smiling. He's developing specialized areas for smell, taste, hearing, vision, and touch. Unique fingerprints have formed at the tips of his fingers and tiny blood vessels are visible under the skin.
Maternity clothes? Still regular dresses and maternity jeans. Should start shopping for some maternity works pants soon.
Sleep: I love sleep! Been sleeping really good this week.
Sleeping on: Side and back.
Best moment this week: Finding out that we are having a little boy. It is so incredible seeing him and learning that everything looks good and healthy. And come on,
how cute is he?!?
After the news we had some fun and registered, bought a crib and a dresser and some blue paint samples that are up on the wall for some testing.
Miss Anything? I'm content
Movement: Yes!!! Lightly and usually only when I'm still but its pretty cool. Feels like bubbles in your stomach.
Food cravings: Pizza, buffalo wings

Have you started to show yet: Yes.

Gender: It's a boy!
Name selected?: Yes!
Working out? Yes, back in the swing of things.
Labor Signs: No.
Belly Button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off? On

Any recommendations on good lotions to help prevent stretch marks? I don't want 'em! What worked for you?
Feeling (happy, moody, emotional, scared): Happy doesn't even begin to describe it. :)
Looking forward to: Decorating our little man's nursery. So much fun!

Boy or Girl?

Blue or pink...What do you think?

Drano Experiment

While in Atlanta, we had some fun and did the Drano test. Here's the instructions, followed by the results in pictures...
  • 2 tablespoons of CRYSTAL Drano
  • Medium glass or jar. It would be best to throw the glass or jar away after performing this test.
  • 2-3 ounces of urine
Put 2 tablespoons of crystal drano in a glass jar and add your urine. It is better to stay away from the glass after you mix the ingredients because there will be a rapid chemical reaction. When the chemical reaction stops, look at the color of the test within the first 10-15 seconds.
If the color gets darker and turns to brown, then it's a boy.
If there is no color change, then it's a girl.

Results = BOY!

P.S. If you ever do this, warning, it stinks and the glass gets extremely hot, so be careful!

Ring Test

We also did the ring test. Here's the instructions:

Take a needle or wedding band and tie it to a thread. Hold it over your belly while you are lying down. If the needle or the band swings in a circular motion, then you are having a
girl. If it moves back and forth, then are you having a boy.

Results = BOY!

He or She? I guess it will be...

For fun, we did some predictions. That doesn't mean we don't want the opposite, it is just a hunch and totally for fun. Jeff and I will be so excited whether it is a little man or a little lady. The thought of either makes my heart want to explode. We are praying for a healthy baby who will be so loved. :)

My dad was confused or just being politically correct. He thinks it is going to be a girl, for the record. That means 4 girl guesses, 4 boy guesses

So there it is, the guesses are in! Check back Friday evening to find out what it is....

I can't wait!!!!

xoxo,
Kim

18 Weeks

How far along? 18 Weeks, 4 days
Baby is the size of: A bell pepper. About 5.5+ inches long.

What's new with baby: Bones are hardening and pads on fingers and feet are forming. Baby hiccups, yawns, and moves inside womb. Ears are in their final position.
Maternity clothes? Sweet summertime has enabled to still wear my usual dresses. I took advantage of the tax free weekend and bought two pairs of maternity jeans, and also two pairs of flats which I'll break in soon.
Sleep: Sleeping like a rock this week.
Sleeping on: A mix of side and back. I asked the doctor about the whole sleeping on the left side only thing and no back, and he said, "sleep however you are comfortable."
Best moment this week: My parents were in town from Georgia so we got to see them two back-to-back weeks. Last week I was in a bikini and they got to see the difference in my tummy from last week to this week. We also got together with Jeff parents and everyone is so excited to find out if it is a boy or a girl this week.

Miss Anything? Not really this week. I'm feeling content.
Movement: I'm not sure. I keep reading that this is the week that you start to feel it, but I only think I notice something if I'm really still in bed. Who knows?!?
Food cravings: Nothing major this week. I thought about donuts a few times. I swear, I haven't had donuts in years until a few weeks ago when I discovered how awesome Wegman's donuts were...now I'm shamelessly hooked.
Anything making you queasy or sick:  The thought of Chipotle -ahhh!
Have you started to show yet: Yes. I think this week has been a big week where I now officially look pregnant enough that people are asking me or commenting on my stomach. Last Tuesday, I had really tight cramps on my sides, which I know realize were growing pains. Take a look at the bump in these two pics on the right!

Gender prediction: I personally think it is a boy. I'll be over the moon either way. What do you think? Take the poll on the upper right.
Name selected?: Yes! We have a girl name, and a boy name. Jeff did mention that he MAY want to revisit the boy name if it is a boy. We shall see on FRIDAY!!!!
Working out? Not really this week. My walking partner (Heidi) was down for the count this week so I've been letting her recover, my trainer cancelled on me and my parents were in town. All the excuses led to no workouts. Time to get moving!
Labor Signs: No.
Belly Button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off? On
Health: Great! I'm very blessed.
Feeling (happy, moody, emotional, scared): Happy, moody and emotional
Looking forward to: Finding out if it is a BOY or a GIRL this WEEK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Next appointment: August 9!!!! Friday!!!!
