17 Weeks

How far along? 17 Weeks, 4 days
Baby is the size of: An Onion. About 5 inches long.

What's new with baby: Packing on the fat! This week the baby is starting to gain some fat and is growing stronger. The baby has begun hearing sounds like my heartbeat and my voice as it resonates throughout the body. Outside the womb, it hears loud noises like a dog barking and may be startled.
Maternity clothes? Mostly wearing my normal dresses. Trying to hold off till fall/winter maternity clothes are out. I don't want to stock up on too much if not necessary.
Sleep: Sleeping alright.Certainly not as sound of a sleeper as I used to be. I have a feeling a may never be again, but I'm not complaining. :) Looking forward to everything.
Sleeping on: A mix of side and back. I asked the doctor about the whole sleeping on the left side only thing, and he said, "sleep however you are comfortable."
Best moment this week: 1) We went to Atlanta (see previous post) 2) We got some awesome surprises and gifts. Look at these Mason onsies from Kristi and Billy Kennard (thank you!). Thank you Blackwells for the sweet surprise of magazines. And thank you to Mom/Dad, Grandma and Aunt Bernie for the sweet baby gifts.

Miss Anything? Not really this week. I feel pretty content.
Movement: Not yet. Anxiously waiting.
Food cravings: Nothing major this week. Always love my sweets. And, I guess mama's home cooking since I was home.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Marinara sauce and smokey/grilled food
Have you started to show yet: Yes.
Gender prediction: I personally think it is a boy. What do you think? Take the poll on the upper right.
Name selected?: Yes! We have a girl name, and a boy name. Jeff did mention that he MAY want to revisit the boy name if it is a boy. We shall see...
Working out? Eh, not too much this week since we took a mini "vacay" to Atlanta.
Labor Signs: No.
Belly Button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off? On
Health: Great! I'm very blessed.
Feeling (happy, moody, emotional, scared): Happy.

Although it doesn't have hair yet, the patterning of its scalp has begun. Movements have become increasingly coordinated. Its heart is now pumping about 25 quarts of blood each day. A growth spurt is just around the corner.

Makin room for baby

We have begun making room for baby Miller! On Sunday, we went browsing for cribs. What a wake up call.

Here's the room that will soon be our baby's room. Take note of the "before" pictures. It's been a catch all for things we don't have room for elsewhere and a workout room.

This is the closet, which we used as overflow storage of Christmas stuff (we have A LOT of Xmas decor) and random things. What a mess.  This is actually a picture after one round of clean up and piling for Good Will. Now we just need to find a place in the house for these things. Soon enough we'll have onesies and cute baby outfits lined up in here. Can't wait!!!

So we decided the treadmill had to go. Jeff started taking it apart so it would fit through the door and down FOUR flights of stairs (we live in a condo). Heidi supervised, and Jeff's friend John helped carry and maneuver down all those steps. Thanks John and Jeff! This was not an easy task!

Look at those muscles!

Bye, bye treadmill.

So GET THIS....We bought the treadmill at Costco 2.5 years ago. The incline on it never worked since day one and the heart monitor stopped working. Costco took back the treadmill (2.5 years later) and we got a FULL refund. Ummm....AWESOME!! Love Costco!!!!

Stay tuned to see how the room turns into a nursery. Yay!

Xoxo,
Kim

14 Weeks

How far along? 14 Weeks, 5 Days
Baby is the size of: A navel orange
Maternity clothes? Not wearing any yet. Mostly wearing comfy summer dresses.
Sleep: Haven't been sleeping well. Thinking too much this week!
Sleeping on: my stomach. This is short lived.
Best moment this week: First full week in second trimester. Still getting so much love - thank you for all the cards, emails, phone calls, messages, texts, and hugs!!!

Miss Anything? I reallllly want a glass of wine - or a frozen, fruity drink
Movement: Not that I feel - I know baby is moving a whole lot though from our last sonogram at 12 weeks
Food cravings: In the spirit of the 4th of July holiday, I really wanted a hot dog, but passed on that craving. Still wanting some cinnamon rolls so might have to cave into that craving soon. Oh, and I love milk.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Hate to say this, but, we grilled steaks and veggies on the 4th and I couldn't eat any of it. The smokiness from the grill made me want to throw up.

Belly Button in or out? In

Health: Great! It's been a good week so far. No major headaches.
Feeling (happy, moody, emotional, scared): Happy. But getting overwhelmed thinking about all the options for cribs, car seats, etc. and all the other things to do/think about. (Hence the topics running through my mind when I'm trying to sleep)

Looking forward to: Finding out if it is a boy or a girl!! I can NOT wait!! We have another 4-5 weeks until we find out though.

How far along? 13 Weeks, 5 Days
Baby is the size of: A peach
Maternity clothes? Not wearing any yet. Have two pairs of pants on hand. I'm crazy to not be wearing them yet because they are SO comfy. Why would anyone ever go back to regular pants?
Sleep: Love sleep! I go to sleep between 9-9:30 every night because I am so exhausted. I usually wake up to pee at least once though. And on the weekends, I am up between 6 and 8 a.m. (that's a big change for me).
Sleeping on: my stomach. I'm enjoying it while it lasts.
Best moment this week: Officially entering my second trimester. And we told all of our friends, family and work officially. The outpouring of love and congratulations has been so special.

Gender prediction: Boy

Name selected?: Yes! We have both a boy and a girl name - but we aren't sharing until we know what we are having. Maybe I will give a hint sometime soon.

Two lines

Hint #1: Heightened sense of smell. This is no joke. It came on immediately. Poor Jeff suffered the brunt of it with my random outbreaks of, "you smell!" when the poor guy didn't but something in the other room did.
Hint #2: Sore boobs. Ouch! I couldn't even hug Jeff without being in pain.
Hint #3: Dizziness. I had random spells on my head spinning and loosing my step while walking.
Hint #4: Extreme bloating. I felt like a gained 10 pounds overnight.

All these before a missed period lead me to suspicion. So I bought some pregnancy tests and took one all by myself. That one test showed a faint blue line and one pretty solid line. Hmmm, I'm not sure. Let me take another just to be on the safe side - and while I am at it, let me take all of them.

Okay, I think that means I'm pregnant! O-M-G! So exciting and so scary at the same time!! I couldn't wait to tell Jeff...

By the look on his face, you can tell, Jeff was super surprised but so happy. When the video cuts off we hugged and talked, and had some sparkling cider in our wedding flutes. So exciting!!

Here are a few things that have happened since that life-changing day...

We told both sets of parents on Mother's Day. Such a special day!
My parents immediately came to visit.

We had our first doctor's appointment, where we got to hear the baby's heartbeat, and see the baby. (8 weeks)

We told close family and friends the news.

We turned another year older - yes, on the same day.
We had our next doctor's appointment (12 weeks, 4 days).

We had a few puppy photo sessions.

And lastly and I hate doing this, but here is a "before" shot, that I took around 5 or 6 weeks.

That's it for now. We are so excited! Can't wait to share this journey with you.

xoxo,
Kim
